White Acres Walls Solero
Ladies Festival 2011
  Fishing Information call 01726 862519

Once again it is time for our annual ladies festival.
We are running it to the same format as last year we will be having four matches over the four days. There will be two random draws so the ladies won't be fishing against the same people on all 4 matches.

There will be one draw when they fish on Python and another for when the fish Twin Oaks and then they will just rotate and fish on the lakes they have yet to fish. Each lake has been split into four sections of 4 pegs with the ladies fishing for a maximum or 4 points. There are only 16 ladies fishing this year and that is made up of some of the regular anglers and some new faces fishing the festival for the first time.

The weather is normally not the best for the ladies who have fished previous festival in horrendous conditions but the arrival weekend has been the sunniest it has been for ages down here so fingers crossed it will stay good for them.mbers of the England ladies team, the occasional match angler and some on their first bash at the festival.

Day One

ith the ladies having a couple of days to practise of the weekend they were eager to start the festival. The ladies would eventually fish both sides of Python but some of them were hoping to draw the wides to give them a better chance of a good weight from day one.

Starting the section on a high are today's section winners who will want a repeat performance as they head to Twin oaks for the second day of the festival.

Day Two

It is on to Twin Oaks for the next two days for the ladies and this should open up the field for those on close points if we have some good weights. Twin oaks has been fishing harder recently we hope the ladies do not struggle today.

The weather is back on form for this festival and after a glorious start it looks like the ladies are due for a wet couple of days, this will be better for the fishing as the lakes need a drop of rain so it is waterproofs at the ready!

Twin Oaks 1 - 18
It was a good day for the ladies and some reasonable weights were recorded, with the wind blowing down towards the bottom end the usually un-favoured pegs fished better today. The lake winner with 72lb 3oz was Leanne Knott; Leanne was on peg 11 and caught on the pellet feeder. Second on peg 7 was Samantha Sim with 61lb 3oz, Sam caught mainly on the method but also had a few on the pellet waggler. Abbie Kendall was third, Abbie caught on the deck at 5 meters with meat for a weight of 57lb 13oz from peg 5.

Section Winners
Leanne Knott peg 11 4 points 72lb 3oz

Two of the ladies have kept a perfect result with another section win but as the sections are smaller this will keep the points tight a bad day over the next couple of matches could make a big difference. The weights have all received a good boost today so lets hope for another good days fishing tomorrow.

Day Three

After a wet but productive day yesterday the morning was greeted with sunshine but soon turned to showers and then torrential rain!

After studying the weigh sheets from yesterday the ladies all have a good idea of where they would like to draw today so read on to see who managed to bag a “flier” and see how day three of the festival panned out.

Twin Oaks 19 - 36
Although the overall weights weren't as high as yesterday, today it fished a lot more consistently with better weights recorded from across all the pegs. Samantha Sim on peg 35 was the lake winner today with 71lb 10oz, Sam caught on the pole down the edge with meat. Second with 58lb 4oz was Alison Jones, Alison caught down the edge on corn and meat from peg 27. Samantha Sim peg 35 4 points 71lb 10oz
Alison Jones peg 27 4 points 58lb 4oz

Twin Oaks 1 - 18
It was also a reasonable day on this side of Twin Oaks and with the direction of the wind the better weights are still coming from the low numbered pegs but nearly all the ladies once again managed a good net of fish to up their overall weight. Today's winner with 87lb 8oz was Sophie Davis; Sophie was on peg 3 and caught down the edge on paste and at 5 meters on meat. On peg 5 Sammie Perkins was second, Sam caught on the pellet waggler for a weight of 73lb 3oz. Third with 62lb 14oz was Helen Dagnall, Helen was on peg 9 and caught on the method with pellet.

There were points won and lost across the pack today and now none of the anglers are on maximum points but with the greater weight Sammie Perkins is holding on there in the top spot. It is back to Python tomorrow for the ladies and it will be an all out battle for the sections seeing as the points are so close.

Join us tomorrow to find out who will be crowned the 2011 White Acres Solero Ladies champion.

Day Four

The week has flown by once again and fortunately for the ladies the weather managed to hold off for the final day. It was a wet start to the day but the sun broke through and it was a warm and sunny end to the festival.

The ladies were back on to Python today and seeing as the points were so close it would come down to the wire today to determine our 2011 winner. It was a tougher day for the ladies on Python and while some coasted the section win for others it was close for the section and for some it was a hard struggle just to get a few bites.

Python Narrows
Usually at this time or year you can build up a good weight across this section but that was not to be today and for some of the ladies it was especially hard. Winning the lake and her third maximum section points was Sammie Perkins on peg 29, Sam caught on the pole down the middle & edge with paste for a weight of 27lb 9oz. Samantha Sim was second with 19lb 4oz, Sam was on peg 25 and caught down the middle on groundbait and pellet. Melanie Bates on peg 31 weighed in with 14lb 15oz to take third.

Section Winners
Sammie Perkins peg 29 4 points 27lb 9oz
Samantha Sim peg 25 4 points 19lb 4oz

Python Wides
There were better weights on this side of the lake but even the bay area didn't perform as well as expected and some of the ladies still had a hard day. The higher numbered pegs produced the better weights and it wasn't as close on weights for points as it had been in pervious days. Abbi Kendall weighed in with 55lb to take today's lake win; Abbi was on peg 16 and caught on the method feeder with maggot. Second on peg 14 was Helen Dagnall, Helen caught on the long pole shallow with pellet and the short pole with paste and had a weight of 36lb 8oz. Liz Crewe on peg 15 weighed in with 21lb 12oz to take third.

Section Winners
Abbi Kendall peg 16 4 points 55lb
Wendy Locker peg 11 4 points 18lb 4oz

Here is how the final overall results look...

With three of the ladies tied on points the results have gone to weight and being over 100lbs ahead of the pack Sammie Perkins has taken the 2011 victory to be crowned White Acres Solero Ladies champion. Sammie has led the festival since day one with Sam Sim & Wendy snapping at her heals and jostling each other for second and third positions.

All of the girls have put in a great effort this week and despite some terrible weather and fairly hard fishing they all have seemed to enjoy it. The festival date for 2012 is set for week commencing 7th July and some of the girls have already booked their place, if any of you keen female anglers are interested in fishing next year please do not hesitate to give me a ring for more information or to book.

As well as the top 6 picking up cash prizes they also picked up prizes that we were able to provide thanks to the sponsorship from Walls Solero.

Once again thanks and congratulations to all the ladies that fished this week especially out top three of Sammie Perkins (Shimano/Dynamite Baits) Samantha Sim (Sonu Baits/Passies) & Wendy Locker (Tackle Locker/Drennan)

Right that is the end of our spring & summer festival programme so you wont hear from us for a while until the Maver festival but thank you all once again for following our updates and catch you in October!

Cheers, Kirsty
