Gaymers Festival 2011
Fishing Information call 01726 862519
This year we have made a few changes to the festival and even before the anglers arrive they were enthusiastic. We have upped the numbers slightly from 72 to 80 and increased the number of lakes being used so the anglers will have more space and a better variety of fishing.

Some of the anglers have never even seen the new venues let alone fished them so there is a lot of trawling the internet and past festival reports to gather information.
The sections we are using this year are Twin Oaks - both sides as one section with ten anglers on each side breaking down into two 5 peg sections on each lake. Acorn & Canal are also one big section so the anglers will on fish one of these lakes rather than both in previous years the pegging has also been spread right out to give them more room. The next section is on Trelawney which is a new addition in to the festival lakes. The final lake, another new addition, sees the anglers going to our off site lakes at Trewaters. All the 20 peg sections are broken down to 4 sections of 5 pegs so the anglers are fishing for a maximum of 5 points each day, with the sections being a lot smaller this should open the festival right out and we are sure it is going to come down to a nail biting finale.
There are a number of regular anglers that fish this festival in big groups but there are also a few new faces fishing this year so it is a very sociable weekend catching up with old friends and meeting all the other anglers on the festival.
In the week leading up to the festival it has been very cold and wet - good for the lakes that have needed a top up but not as good for the fishing! This week is set to be better though and normally these anglers bring a bit if sunshine with them so fingers crossed it will be a better week.
Day One
Last year we did a random draw on day one but this year to allow the anglers a bit more preparation and to allow for travelling partners we did the draw prior to the anglers arrival so they knew there rotation for the week.
It was a misty but warm start to the day and the anglers were keen to get on with the draw and crack on with day one of the festival.
A Section Twin Oaks
The overall weights were split today over the high and low numbers. There were reasonable weights from across the whole lake but with no breeze on the lake some areas were fishing better than others. Taking the win today with 80lb 12oz was Barry Parker; Barry was on peg 8 and caught on the method with micros & groundbait and 6 mil pellet on the hook. Tony Shine on peg 16 was second, Tony caught on the method with micros for a weight of 69lb 10oz. Third was Stephan Baker, Stephen caught 3 carp on the pellet waggler but had the rest of his fish on the bomb & pellet from peg 24 for a total weight of 64lb. Fourth with 62lb 9oz was Alan Milward on peg 14, Alan caught on the pole down the edge with meat.

B Section Acorn & Canal
It was a very close day on Acorn and although there were not a great deal of stand out weights, there were a lot of weights around the 40 -50lb mark making it very close for points. As expected the weights were lower on canal but the anglers still had a reasonable day and were once again close on points. Will Sweeney took the win today with 63lb 2oz; Will was on Acorn peg 7 and caught on the method with micros. Second on Acorn peg 1 was Ian Turner with 51lb 15oz, Ian caught on the pole down the edge with maggot. Phil Morris weighed in with 51lb 12oz to take third; Phil was on Acorn peg 13 and caught on the method with micros and down the edge. Jamie Gilliland caught on the pole down the edge with paste for a weight of 48lb 8oz to take fourth, Jamie was on Acorn peg 5. The best weight on Canal was 25lb 9oz and this came from Alan Symonds on peg 4, Alan caught on a cage feeder and on pinkies at 3 meters.

Alan Symonds peg 4 5 points 25lb 9oz
Maurice Brown peg 14 5 points 21lb 4oz
C Section Trelawney
Trelawney fished fair today with even section winning weights coming from across the lake. The weights were tight in the sections for the points and it was only hard in a couple of places with the anglers struggling for bites. I think there will be a few rigs re-thought as some of the anglers lost more fish than they got in the net! Ricky Lale took the lake win from peg 32 with 68lb 10oz, Ricky caught all over really and had a few fish on the method, a few down the edge on worm and some at 16 meters across to the island on meat. Second with 66lb 11oz was Rich Britton, Rich caught on 6 mil pellet shallow at 16 meters from peg 18. Gary Walker was third; Gary was on peg 15 and caught on the pole at 5 meters with meat for a weight of 54lb 8oz. John Pilling had a weight of 50lb for fourth, John caught on the method with pellet at the pole at 11 meters with paste from peg 9.
Section Winners
Ricky Lale peg 32 5 points 68lb 10oz
Rich Britton peg 18 5 points 66lb 11oz
John Pilling peg 9 5 points 50lb
Clive Hamilton peg 20 5 points 40lb 1oz
D Section Trewaters
Trewaters is one of the new lakes in the festival this year with only a handful of the anglers ever having fished the venue before. The lake is rammed with fish which means plenty of bites for the anglers and a busy day building up a good weight. Both lakes fished reasonable well today and saw good weights coming from across all sections. The lake winner today on peg 21 was Ricky Dennis, Ricky caught on the method with micros for a weight of 62lb 13oz. Nigel Lale was second, Nigel was on peg 28 and caught on the method with micros and on the pole down the edge with meat for a total weight of 61lb 2oz. Third with 49lb 7oz was Andy Poole on peg 32, Andy caught mainly F1's on the pole shallow at 11 meters with pellet. Not only are the points going to be tight, all the lakes are also producing good weights so it is going to be close come the final day.
Join us tomorrow for the latest update from the 2011 White Acres Gaymers Festival.
Day Two
After yesterdays match the anglers now have the chance to review the weigh sheets and while it was a cracking start for some there was disappointment for others, all the lakes have been fishing well and the weights have been tight for points.
It was another dry and warm day, possibly too warm as there are signs of spawning on a couple of the lakes.
Read on to see if any of yesterday's section winners have managed to bag another win to boost their chances of a top position within the overall festival results.

Another steady day on Trelawney with a few more carp coming from different areas, the warmer weather over the past few days has seen signs of the carp spawning which is proving an issue for some of the anglers as the fish are not interested in feeding. Jamie Gilliland was on peg 22 and was second, Jamie caught on the method across with meat and worm on the inside for an overall weight of 45lb 2oz. D Section Twin Oaks
Twin Oaks is still not fishing with its usual form and the anglers who drew on here today hoping for a busy day and big weights were slightly disappointed. It has still been close across the sections but we are not seeing the bigger weights that we have done on previous festivals. Mel Hodgson was the lake winner today with 94lb 9oz; Mal was on peg 17 and caught on the groundbait method with maggot on the hook. We have six anglers that have finished the second day of the festival on maximum points but with two days to go anything could happen. It is close on points and weight so one good or bad draw over the final few days could see disappointment for some and elation for others. As we head in to the third day the anglers now have more of an idea of the form on the lakes so it will be fingers crossed as they dip in to the bag for their draw.
Join us tomorrow for the latest update.
Day Three
The week is flying by and the festival results seem to be getting closer each day. It was another fine and warm day for the anglers although in some areas, especially down at Trewaters there was a very nippy wind.

Will we once have a festival won on maximum points? Join us tomorrow for the final match action report and to find out who will be the 2011 White Acres Gaymers Festival champion.

As the only angler to finish on maximum points the winner this year was Barry Parker, there were a mixed set of results for the anglers in the top spots on the final day with points being gained and lost across the pack but with another section win under his belt Barry easily took the win. It was a very close festival and could have gone a number of ways on the final day as the points were so close and also the weights close. With six anglers all tied on 18 points the remainder of the top spots was determined on weight but as you can see from the above results it has been a very close festival.

As mentioned before the changes we have made to this years festival have gone down well with the anglers and it has been a great week. Many thanks to all the anglers that have fished this week for making it such an enjoyable festival and also thank you once again to Gaymers for sponsoring the event and with their sponsorship money it allowed us to give prizes to the top 8 anglers who also picked up cash prizes. The prizes given out in the festival were as follows.
- First received a set of Daiwa Tournament luggage and a Spro Blue Arc reel.
- Second & third received a Maver Reacterlite 9ft match rod and keepnet.
- Fourth & fifth received a Maver Powerlite 11ft feeder rod and keepnet
- Sixth, seventh & eighth received a Garbolino Maxim 11ft feeder rod & keepnet.
Once again thank you to all of the anglers that fished this week and for those of you that have avidly been following the results. Also congrtulations to all of the anglers that took part this week especially our top three of Barry Parker, John Pilling & Nigel Lale. Unfortunately as the winner Barry will not be able to fish this festival next year but he does receive an invitation to fish the Preston Innovations festival in October so we wish him the best of luck in this festival for later on in the year.a
Cheers, Kirsty
