Drennan International
Coca Cola Junior Festival 2011
Fishing Information call 01726 862519
This year we have fewer juniors fishing the festival as a lot of them have moved up in to the intermediates category. There are 15 juniors fishing the festival and although we will still be using Jennys and Trelawney they will all be on the same lake at the same time.
It has been a stunning weekend a few days leading up to the festival and the juniors have been enjoying their practise sessions. With this warmer weather there are signs on both of the lakes that the fish may be beginning to spawn we can only hope this doesn't affect the fishing too much though.
Once again Drennan International and Coca Cola have generously sponsored the festival, Drennan International have provided goodie bags for all of the young anglers as well as prizes for the overall winners. Coca Cola sponsor the event with £500 and combined with their entry fees this allows us to provide an amazing array of prizes for the winners.
Day One ~ Trelawney
Trelawney has been fishing well in the lead up to the festival but is also one of our trickier lakes to tackle as some of the juniors have found out in the past. At one point we were worried when someone came back to the shop to tell us it was fishing “hard†but when we went to do the weigh in we were impressed with the results. A couple of the juniors struggled and for some it was harder to get through the little fish to get on to the “lumps†but the weights were fair and even across all the sections. Taking the lake win with a weight of 66lb 6oz was Joe Kent; Joe was on peg 20 and caught on the method with pellet down the edge and on the pole shallow across. Ross Mcauley on peg 16 weighed in with 56lb 7oz to take second, Ross caught on the method with banded pellet and down the edge on meat and hemp. Third with a weight of 44lb 6oz was Jacob Sanderson, Jacob caught on the method with pellet and pole with meat from peg 28. The next best weight came from Sam Hughes on peg 10, Sam caught on the method with pellet tight across to the island for a weight of 40lb 12oz.

Day Two ~ Jennys
out at tonight's presentation with the juniors receiving 2 packs of products provided by Drennan International.
The juniors were moving on to Jennys today, Jennys has been fishing well recently so we are expecting some good nets of fish today to boost their overall weights. The downside is that the fish are showing signs of spawning and Jennys is usually one of the lakes that spawns first and given these warm conditions we hope this doesn't affect the fishing too much.
As the juniors are in smaller sections and only fishing for 4 points for a win this could open the festival right out and make the results incredibly close so will have to see what happens today.
It was a great day for the juniors on Jennys today and by using this lake for the youngsters ensures that they all get a good net of fish. The weights were slightly less than we would have hoped for but the fish were showing signs of beginning to spawn. It was fair across the sections and the weights were very close when it came to points. The lake was won today by Sam Hughes with a great weight of 84lb 8oz; Sam was on peg 17 and caught on the pole at 13 meters on worm & caster, meat short on the deck and on the method tight over. Chloe Raynor was on peg 20 and weighed in with 45lb 7oz to take second, Chloe caught at 5 meters over worm. Third went to Joe Kent, Joe caught mainly on the method feeder with pellet from peg 14 and weighed in with 39lb 12oz. The next best weight was 39lb 5oz and this came from Ross Macualy, Ross caught on the method with banded pellet from peg 16.

Well it was another cracking festival for the juniors and we couldn't have asked for a nicer couple of days for them to be fishing in. All the juniors have put in a great effort and in some places the results are very close but with two section wins and finishing on maximum points the winner's title of the Coca Cola Drennan International Junior festival 2011 goes to Luke Hardcastle, Luke will also receive an invitation back to fish the Preston Innovations and Winners week mini-festival as long with a great stash of prizes provided by our sponsors Drennan International.
Once again thank you to Coca Cola for sponsoring the event and thanks to Drennan International for the goodie bags and prizes for the top eight juniors.
Thank you once again to the anglers that fished for making it such a good festival and also congratulations to you all especially our top three Luke Hardcastle, Sam Hughes and Joe Kent.
Many Thanks, Kirsty
