Preston Festival 2010
Fishing Information call 01726 862519
It is all go for us here at White Acres we now head into the biggest festival of the year the Preston Innovations Festival leading to the one day £25, 000 Parkdean Masters Final. This is one of the toughest festivals to get into as it is qualification only so you will see the cream of the UK angling scene battling it out for the top spot.
There is only one angler short as we head into the five day festival and this week the sections being used are Pollawyn, Twin Oaks/Trelawney, Trewaters/Acorn/Canal, Porth & Bolingey. There was a last minute change to the sections seeing as Trewaters fished really well with just the 18 anglers on it we have decided to keep it split and include it with Acorn & Canal

For the anglers that have just arrived and the anglers that are staying on it has been a typical Cornish Indian summer weekend with warm weather and gloriously sunny skies and only a slight nip in the air in the daytimes. Over night it is a slightly different story with the temperature dropping a couple of degrees to what it was last week and it is a bit chillier in the mornings. The lakes fished well last week during the festivals and in practise over the weekend so we have high hope for another great festival.
Each day we will be keeping a close eye on the top 24 to see the possible line up for Saturdays final, join us each day as the festival progress for the latest news.
Day One
It is a early draw once again today as we gather all the anglers to explain the format for the festival, there is one big change this week and that is we have introduced a 60lb net limit and 4 keep net rule - this mainly applies for Bolingey but on all of the lakes there is an advisory in place with anglers facing their weight not being counted if there is too much in one net.
With so much up for grabs this week the first draw is always exciting, read on to find out who will be running to the 'fliers' today and how hasn't faired as well at the draw bag.
A Section Pollawyn
A good start to the festival on Pollawyn today with good overall weights and close results in the sections. The arms fished a bit harder today but the weights were very close across the section. A few more carp were showing today so hopefully we will see good weights as the week goes on. Steve Ringer took the lake win today with 165lb 12oz, Steve was on peg 15 and caught on the pole long and short with meat. Second with 108lb 8oz was Mark Fox, Mark caught 2 on the pellet waggler and the rest short at 5 meters on meat from peg 27. Third on peg 23 was Adam Wakelin, Adam caught on the feeder and the pole with meat for a weight of 70lb 7oz. The next best weight came from Jason Le Bosquet on peg 16; Jason caught long and short on the pole with meat for a weight of 70lb 5oz.

Mark Fox peg 27 9 points 108lb 8oz
Lee Edwards peg 34 9 points 69lb 6oz
Andy Geldart peg 12 9 points 65lb 7oz
B Section Trelawney/ Twin Oaks
Twin Oaks was rested last week with the hope of some good weights this week and it definitely didn't let us down today with ten 80lb plus weights being recorded out of the 18 anglers and even the weights on Trelawney were reasonable since it had been fished last week. Paul Yates on Twin Oaks peg 25 was today's lake winner, Paul caught on the method feeder and meat short on the pole for an impressive weight of 180lb 13oz. Second with 124lb 3oz was Grant Albutt, Grant was on Twin Oaks peg 29 and caught down the edge with corn. Third went to Lewis Nightingale on Twin Oaks peg 10 with 118lb, Lewis caught mainly on the feeder and had a couple down the edge. The next best weight came from Cameron Hughes on Trelawney peg 23; Cameron caught down the edge on meat and weighed in with 109lb 6oz.

Kelvin Acton peg 18(T) 9 points 72lb 2oz
C Section Trewaters/Acorn/Canal
Trewaters has been spilt once again this week and we have introduced Acorn & Canal in to the section so who knows were the weights will be coming from this week as the lakes are quite evenly matched. Second with 65lb 9oz was Kieron Rich, Kieron was on Acorn peg 7 and caught down the edge with a variety of baits. The next best weight also came from Acorn and was caught by Lewis Murawski on peg 2, Lewis weighed in with 61lb 12oz which he caught down the edge. Andy Bennett peg 6(C ) 9 points 59lb 9oz
Gareth Malham peg 23 9 points 59lb 1oz
D Section Porth
Porth was off to a cracking start with great weights taking all the section wins and there were 20 double figure weights out of the 36 anglers, fingers crossed this keeps up for the rest of the days. A few anglers landed carp today so let's hope these too stick around in the areas being fished so that we see some good weights for the rest of the week. Des Shipp was today's lake winner on peg 24, Des weighed in with 31lb 5oz (which included a 6lb carp) and caught on the pole with worm and fed casters. Second with 26lb 6oz was Paul Burton, Paul caught on the pole at 11 meters with casters from peg 40. Alan Scotthorne peg 74 9 points 14lb 13oz
E Section Bolingey
With a rest over the weekend Bolingey was back on form today and although some of the back-up weights were not as high as in previous days the overall weights were great and it was close in some areas for section points. Today's lake winner with an impressive haul of 198lb 5oz was Lee Thornton; Lee was on peg 21 and caught on the pole with worm. Second went to Paul Cannon on peg 20, Paul caught on the pole with meat for a weight of 157lb 15oz. These are the anglers that have started their week on a high and will be hoping for more section wins throughout the week, as we always see with the festival results any thing can happen over the next few days and we are predicting another close week, join us each day for the latest top 24 - will we see any of the above names in the final on Saturday?
Day Two
It was a bitterly cold evening with even a slight frost to the start of the day, another drop in temperature is bound to have an affect on some of the lakes but it will be the same for all the anglers and we shall just have to see what un-folds. For some of the anglers they are fishing the match in t-shirts but as soon as the sun goes in it is a very different story.
With a slight idea as to the section winning pegs and good areas that they want to draw in the anglers go into the second day with high hopes from the draw bag. The anglers in the top spots are hoping for another good day today whilst others will be chasing the pack for a better result.
A Section Trelawney/ Twin Oaks
Even though these lakes fished slightly harder today there were still good weights that came from Twin Oaks with both sides of the lake competing for the top slots, it was close on Trelawney and although the backup weights weren't great it was still tight on points. Today's lake winner with 134lb was Andy Geldart; Andy was on Twin Oaks peg 12 and caught on the method feeder with pellet. Simon Colclough was on Twin Oaks peg 23 and was second, Simon caught on the method feeder and weighed in with 115lb 5oz. On Twin Oaks peg 8 Mark Fox was third with 115lb 1oz. Gary Pook peg 20(T) 9 points 56lb 6oz
B Section Trewaters/Acorn/Canal
It was a mixed day over on these lakes today, the weights across Trewaters were fairly consistent and close for points, Acorn produced some good overall weights but the back up weights were down slightly and it was a bit of a struggle on Canal which spends most of the day in the cold. On Acorn peg 15 Tommy Pickering took the lake win today with 90lb, Tommy caught 18 fish on the method with pellet and 6 fish down the edge on meat. Second with 69lb 10oz was Paul Yates, Paul caught on the pole at 16 meters to the far bank with pellet from Acorn peg 13. James Hawkins was on Trewaters peg 49 and was third with 67lb, James caught over on the method feeder with pellet. Jamie Wilde had the next best weight with 63lb 8oz, Jamie caught down the edge on meat from Acorn peg 2. C Section Porth
Porth is still fishing really well - better than in the earlier festivals and today 25 anglers reached a double figure weight which is fantastic for this time of year. 21lb was the winning weight on Porth today and this was recorded by 2 anglers, Steve Clark on peg 79 and Callum Dicks on peg 83. Steve caught on the pole with caster and Callum caught on the long pole with worm and the short pole with casters. Lewis Murawski was third on the lake; Lewis caught on the pole long & short with worm & caster from peg 74 for a weight of 19lb 13oz. D Section Bolingey
It was a slower day on Bolingey as like all the other lakes the fish have backed off with this cold spell. There were still plenty of fish caught and good overall weights but there were also some low weights and not as many good backups. Today's match winner with 163lb 8oz was Ian Exall, Ian was on peg 23 and 30 carp - 8 on the method, 5 short and the rest down the edge all on meat. Second went to Andy May on peg 27, Andy caught on the pole at 5 meters with meat and weighed in with 139lb 14oz. On peg 22 Chris Kitchen was third with 131lb 6oz, Chris caught on the pole at 5 meters with meat and on meat in the margins. Des Shipp peg 16 9 points 107lb 6oz
Paul Holland peg 29 9 points 96lb 1oz
E Section Pollawyn
It was a hard day on Pollawyn but also a fair day with the weights being close across all the sections and very close for the valuable points. The weights across the high bank were better today and although the lake isn't producing up any massive tons, the weights are coming from a few different areas. Today's lake winner was Lee Kerry; Lee was on peg 17 and caught on the long pole with meat and the method for a weight of 65lb 15oz. Just a few ounces behind was Lee Werrett who was second with 65lb 12oz, Lee was on peg 27 and caught long and short on the pole with meat and also recorded the biggest fish of the week so far with a 20lb 10oz carp. Andy Power weighed in with 65lb 2oz to take third; Andy caught 8 carp and a load of skimmers at 14 meters shallow with meat from peg 13. The next best weight came from Neil Mckinnon on peg 25; Neil caught on the method with pellet and weighed in with 61lb 10oz.
Section Winners
Lee Kerry peg 17 9 points 65lb 15oz
Lee Werrett peg 27 9 points 65lb 12oz
Andy Power peg 13 9 points 65lb 2ox
Timmy Rowe peg 45 9 points 48lb 4oz

We have 5 anglers all on maximum points and high & close points and weights following them so things are well and truly set for it to be an exciting week, who knows what will happen over the next few days, the midway point of the festival usually gives a slight idea as to a few names we will be seeing in the final on Saturday but as for the others it is an open book at the moment as some can afford a slight error whilst others definitely can't. Join us tomorrow for the half way point results and to see if we still have any anglers on maximum points.
Day Three
It is the half-way point of the festival and it is getting colder by the day, we have yet to see a proper ground frost (except over at Trewaters) but the windscreens are iced up in the mornings.
With this colder weather coming in and for some lakes the amount they have been fished it is starting to get a bit tougher, there are still plenty of fish being caught but for some they can see indications that the fish are definitely there but they are simply not feeding.
At this point during the week we will have a bit of an idea as to whom will be in the final on Saturday but it has been all change again in the leader board so read on to find out the current standings.
A Section Trewaters/Acorn/Canal
Trewaters is still holding its own and providing reasonably weights that seem to be getting tighter when it comes to section points, it was a good decision to keep just the 18 anglers on this venue as it would have been a bit of a struggle by now. Acorn is fishing well and providing good weights for the overall monies although there are not as many back-up weights. Canal is also holding its own with the weights coming from across the lake and it is close across the section. The lake winner today on Acorn peg 5 was Tony Wynnick, Tony caught down the edge on worm for a weight of 83lb 9oz. Dave Swain was second with 67lb 4oz, Dave was on Acorn peg 13 and caught on the method and down the edge on meat. Mike Barlow was on Trewaters peg 43 and was third with 65lb 4oz, Mike caught shallow on the long pole with pellet. The next best weight came from Pemb Wrighting, Pemb caught on corn down the edge for a weight of 61lb 15oz from Trewaters peg 25. The best weight on Canal came from Adam Wakelin on peg 8; Adam caught long on pellet and weighed in with 50lb 10oz.
Section Winners
Tony Wynnick peg 5(A) 9 points 83lb 9oz
Mike Barlow peg 43(T) 9 points 65lb 4oz
Pemb Wrighting peg 25(T) 9 points 61lb 15oz
Adam Wakelin peg 8(C ) 9 points 50lb 10oz
B Section Porth
Although today there were more lower weights on the lake it is still fishing well considering previous festival results and the time of year. It is good to see weights coming from across all four sections and not one area dominating the overall results. The lake winner was Chris Vandervleit on peg 39 with 22lb 5oz. Second with 19lb 5oz was Tommy Pickering, Tommy was on peg 87 and caught 150 skimmers and roach on the waggler with maggot and fed caster. John Battersby weighed in with 16lb 15oz to take third; John was on peg 89 and caught on the tip with worm & casters. The next best weight on the lake was 16lb 13oz and this recorded by Harry Billing & Paul Yates, Paul was on peg 38 and Harry was on peg 16 and caught shallow on the pole at 16 meters with caster.
Section Winners
Chris Vandervleit peg 39 9 points 22lb 5oz
Tommy Pickering peg 87 9 points 19lb 5oz
Harry Billing peg 16 9 points 16lb 13oz
Grant Albutt peg 71 9 points 16lb 7oz
C Section Bolingey
The cold weather really has had a knock-on affect at Bolingey with some of the anglers in the harder areas really struggling. There are still good overall weights winning the lake and a number of tons but the back up weights are not as strong as in previous days. Lewis Murawski was today's lake winner on peg 27; Lewis caught on the pole short with meat and weighed in with 165lb 10oz. Second with 140lb 13oz was Kieron Rich, Kieron was on peg 20 and caught short on the pole with meat. Mark Harper was third, Mark caught on the method and on the pole with meat at 7 meters for a weight of 116lb 5oz from peg 22. Callum Dicks weighed in with 105lb 4oz which was the next best weight on the lake; Callum was on peg 18 and caught on the method with pellet and at 5 meters with meat.
Section Winners
Lewis Murawski peg 27 9 points 165lb 10oz
Callum Dicks peg 18 9 points 105lb 4oz
Lee Pesticcio peg 7 9 points 103lb 1oz
Danny Wynn peg 44 9 points 100lb 2oz
D Section Pollawyn
It was a harder days fishing on Pollawyn today and although we had better lake winning weights the section weights were down on previous days with some anglers finding it a struggle. The fish seem to be in certain areas at the moment with the bulk of the carp coming from a few pegs to boost the weights but in other places they are spread out and it is a bonus to land any to boost the weights. With this cold weather the arms are struggling more but the anglers that are targeting the silvers instead of holding out for the big fish seem to be building up reasonable weights to make it close for points across the sections. Today's match winning weight was 120lb 12oz and this came from Paul Burton on peg 15, Paul caught on the waggler with pellet. Second was Darren Cox on peg 22, Darren caught 14 carp in total he had a few early on the pellet feeder but the rest were caught with meat on the pole at 5 and 16 meters for a total weight of 97lb 6oz. Tim Bull weighed in with 91lb 4oz which was third on the lake, Tim was on peg 26 and caught on the pole at 5 & 13 meters with meat. Paul Holland on peg 17 had the next best weight with 79lb 14oz; Paul caught 6 on his top 6, 5 on the waggler, 1 on the method and 1 on the long pole all with meat and pellet.
Section Winners
Paul Burton peg 15 9 points 120lb 12oz
Tim Bull peg 26 9 points 91lb 4oz
Alan Scotthorne peg 47 9 points 62lb
Chris Kitchen peg 13 9 points 35lb 5oz
E Section Trelawney/Twin Oaks
Twin Oaks, in its exposed location, fished harder today with the fish moving down to one end of the lake rather than the weights being spread out as they had been in previous days, the low numbers produced the high weights today whilst it was more of a struggle on the high numbers. Like a few of the lakes the weights were down on Trelawney but they were also very tight for points, both sides of the lakes are providing reasonable section winning weights but there is quite a drop in the back up results. The match winner today was Timmy Rowe, Timmy was on Twin Oaks peg 18 and caught on the method feeder and on the pole at 5 meters with meat for a weight of 133lb 5oz. Andy Power weighed in with 117lb 3oz to take second, Andy was on Twin Oaks peg 10 and caught on the method and meat short. Third on Twin Oaks peg 14 was Simon Fry, Simon had 6 fish down the edge and the rest on the method with pellet for a total weight of 105lb 12oz. The next best weight came from Lee Kerry on Twin Oaks peg 33, Lee caught on the long pole with pellet to weigh in with 99lb 4oz. The best weight on Trelawney came from Karl Webster on peg 18, Karl weighed in with 71lb 14oz which was caught on the long pole with pellet
Section Winners
Timmy Rowe peg 18(TO) 9 points 133lb 5oz
Lee Kerry peg 33(TO) 9 points 99lb 4oz
Karl Webster peg 18(T) 9 points 71lb 14oz
Adam Richards peg 26(T) 9 points 67lb 7oz
With day three over and done with, let's see how the current leader board stands.

| 23rd | Cameron Hughes | 23 points | 160lb 10oz |
| 24th | Alan Scotthorne | 23 points | 118lb 12oz |
So at the half way point we have no anglers currently on maximum points, it has been a roller coaster ride for some today with points being won and lost by all. For some the glimmer of hope of making Saturdays final has been lost but for others the mixed sets of results today has opened the field right up.
The points and weights seem to be edging closer by the day and once the drop comes into play it will be all change once again, there are a few names that we will more than likely be seeing in the final but at the moment there are a number of places up for grabs and 2 days of good or bad draws and section points could see it all change again.
This festival is once again going to go down to the wire so join us tomorrow to see how day 4 has affected the table and if we have any more names in contention for the title of Preston Innovations champion 2010 and a further insight into the line up for this years Parkdean Masters final.
Day Four
The week has flown by and it is now the pen-ultimate day of the festival and things are really hotting up (well not the weather as today has been freezing!!) There have been points lost and gained today that have affected the results and there are a few nervous anglers anxiously waiting for Fridays result as apart from those in the top ten no ones place in the final on Saturday is safe.
As mentioned it has been bitterly cold today and there was a slight frost over night which has once again affected the fishing - on some venues more than others but everything is still to play for.
Read on for the latest match action.

Andy Power is leading the pack at the moment but the festival isn't over yet and the final day could be very exciting and places not only in the top ten for the prizes but also the top 24 for the Parkdean Masters Final could be won or lost at the draw bag tomorrow.
We are anticipating that they will need at least 32 points so get into the final so watch this space for the final update to see who is crowned the White Acres Preston Innovations Champion 2010 and who will be the line up for the Parkdean Final this year.
Final Day
So we have made it to the final day of the festival and what an exciting week it has been as the weeks has gone on the weather has got colder and now the pressure has dropped making the fishing conditions less that ideal.
There are still a number of anglers that could finish the festival on maximum points with another section win today so the competition is still wide open, we have a slight idea as to the top 24 line up but once that dropper comes into play we could have a few surprises on our hands.
The final draw of the week can be the making or breaking of the anglers as they have everything crossed as they reach into the bag, for some the final day is now only about picking up some beer tokens but for others it could mean a place in the final or not.
We didn't get a chance to get any catch info today I'm afraid but read on for the lake winners and so see who has been crowned White Acres Preston Innovations Champion 2010.
A Section Bolingey
It was a much tougher day on Bolingey for the anglers and also frustrating for those in the most unpopular area with cold water running into the lake. The overall winning weights were reasonable but there were no real back up weights to speak of and for some it was a struggle, we can't complain though as over the past 2 weeks this venue has been fishing on top form.

B Section Pollawyn
Today we saw the lowest overall weights winning Pollawyn as it fished hard once again, although the weights were down across all of the sections it was still very tight when it came to those all important points and those anglers who just fished for bites tended to be better off that those that held on for the bigger fish.

D Section Trewaters/Acorn/Canal
Trewaters once again fished well today proving that the fish has been benefited by having fewer anglers on the lakes, although the overall weights weren't brilliant it was fair across both sections. Acorn & Canal fished a lot harder today.

E Section Porth
The weights were once again good at Porth today and it has fished better these last 2 weeks than it has done for ages, at one point a few years back the weights got so bad we even thought about taking it out of the festivals but thank goodness we didn't as it has fished brilliantly. Other lakes have suffered slightly with the pressure as the week has gone on but Porth has stayed consistent and once again today provided half the pack with double figure weights.

With a section win and a better dropped result Lee Kerry took the 2010 victory in what has been another close and high scoring festival.
It has been a fantastic week and it just goes to show what class of angler we have here fishing this week as it has been the highest scoring line up for the final ever, usually 31 or even 30 points can bag you the chance of fishing for the £25,000 but not this year, there were 5 anglers who all finished on 31 points but only one of them managed to get through.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate all the anglers who took part this week and also to express massive gratitude to our sponsors Preston Innovations & Ricky Teal for once again supporting us and providing some fantastic prizes for our winners.
That is the end of our main autumn festival programme and the climax will be Saturday where one of the above 24 anglers will walk away with a stonking £25,000, with a line up this year including 4 former masters, Welsh & English international anglers and a number of people who have previous been in the final plus some up and coming young guns it is all set to be a very exciting final.
Thank you once again to all the anglers that have fished and for those of you that have been following our reports.
Cheers, Kirsty
