Garbolino Spring Classic Festival 2010
Fishing Information call 01726 862519
Once again Garbolino have joined forces with White Acres and this year marks just the second anniversary of the White Acres Garbolino Spring Classic Festival. The turn out for this year's festival is a lot better with a full capacity of 36 anglers taking to the banks of Trewaters & Twin Oaks for the 4-day festival.
The idea was for all of the anglers to be on the same venues on the same days and then swap lakes but as
the park is quieter this week we have been able to spread the anglers out so there are only 18 fishing on each venue each day.
There was a random draw on day one to determine which lake the anglers would start on and on then day two there would be another random draw between the 18 anglers in the two different sections so that the same 9 would not be fishing against each other for the 4 days, thus hoping to open up the competition a bit.
The lead up to the festival has been bitterly cold but the forecast looks good and the anglers have had a nice weekend to get out and do some practising. The seen is set for the start of the festival and here is how the first day went.
Day One
With the new format being announced at the last minute those anglers that thought they were prepared bait wise for Trewaters would get a bit of a shock if they drew on Twin Oaks so we have allowed them longer to set up today. The cons of having to change venues at the last minute are vastly out numbered by the pros and the anglers are more than happy knowing they have extra space and the chance of better fishing.
A Section Trewaters Middle
Good weights from the lake today generally and also close for the section results. The lake winner on the middle lake at Trewaters was Paul Carnwell; Paul was on peg 31 and caught on the waggler and the short pole with maggot for a weight of 61lb. Second with 51lb 11oz was Ben Stanford, Ben was on peg 21 and caught some fish on the method but mostly on the pole with maggot and caster. Congratulations and thank you to all the anglers that fished this week especially our top three of Harry, Nigel & Paul. I'm sure you'll agree it has been a fantastic week. Also many thanks to Garbolino who provided prizes worth £500 for the anglers.
We are excited to announce that the festival will grow slightly for 2011 as we are increasing the number to 48 and we will be keeping it in the same format and it will be split across all 4 lakes on all 4 days.
Thank you all once again for making it such an enjoyable week and for those of you that are interested in joining us for the 2011 festival please give me a shout as it will be first come first served for the 12 new places.
Cheers, Kirsty
