Fishing Information call 01726 862519
It was once again time for the White Acres Junior festival, this year we have 19 juniors aged between 10 and 15 years old fishing the festival which is generously sponsored by Coca Cola and Drennan International.
The two day festival will be fished on Jennys & Trelawney and the young anglers have been split in to two sections and will rotate the lakes they fish. Despite chilly mornings it has been fantastic weather leading up to the festivals and fingers crosses the weather holds out for the anglers as in previous years they have really battled against the elements. This year we have asked all the juniors to fill out their own catch reports for the two days so we have a bigger festival report for you.
Day One
Today there was a random draw for the juniors with all the pegs for Jennys & Trelawney going into the bag and the juniors drawing not only their peg for the day but the lake they will be fishing.
A Section Jennys
It was a great day on Jennys with the anglers catching over 420lb between the ten of them, here is how the day went in their own words.

B Section Trelawney
It was also a good day on Trelawney, the weighst were close across the pegs and the anglers weighed in with over 300lbs between them.12 year old Kaidie Taylor (Mosella) from Barnsley one of our two girls fishing the junior festival won her lake and section today with 48lb 15oz from Trelawney peg 26, Kadie caught a mixture of carp, F1’s & roach she started off feeding 2 + 2 on the deck with 6mm soft pellet feeding soaked micros with a toss pot and also caught at 11meters shallow with 6mm banded pellets feeding 6mm pellets with a catapult.

He then went on to the pole but had no luck. Since the start of the match he had fed casters at 4 meters so he went on to this line and caught plenty of decent roach and rudd shallow. Whilst doing this he was also continuously feeding his margin line and in the last two hours of the match went down the edge on this line but he only had 2 small F1’s so quickly went back to his caster line where he caught steadily.

Joshua Gilbert was on peg 4 and had a weight of 37lb 9oz, Josh fed his 13 meter line, caster line and margins then went straight on to the method feeder and caught a 2lb carp, this then went quiet so mean while he catapulted plenty of 6mm pellets on his 13 meter line and realised the carp were shallow so he went about a foot deep and caught some F1’s and proper carp.
He had a short spell on his caster line to back up the weight of the carp and towards the end he also tried his edge line but he couldn’t “buy a bite”
On peg 20 Elliot Fay had a weight of 29lb 8oz; he caught carp to 6lb on the method feeder off the island and a few small fish at 13 meters with pellet on the deck. Elliott is a disabled angler who suffers from a muscle and nerve wasting condition, it affects his fingers, hands, walking and balance.

Well what a cracking festival for the youngsters and we’ve seen great weights from all of the anglers. The weather has made a great change this year as usually the anglers are battered by all elements. With perfect section results for two anglers the result for the festival goes down to weight and with a 50lb advantage this years title goes to Jake Gallagher, Jake has had an awesome festival and show great promise for the future.
Our festival sponsors have been amazing this year and with the freebies from Coca Cola & their £500 sponsorship, the goodie bags from Drennan International and the overall prizes they supplied as well as the entrance fees all going into the prize fund the anglers have walked away with a massive haul of goodies. Drennan Iternational provided goodie bags for all the entrants and the top ten anglers all received prizes.
Many thanks once again to our sponsors Drennan International & Coca Cola and thank you to all of the entrants who fished the festival.
Apologies if I have missed anyone’s catch information but I have used all the ones that were handed back to me, if you still have yours please email the details and I will include it in the report.
Many Thanks, Kirsty
