First of 2010 - Bait Tech
Fishing Information call 01726 862519
Once again the 2010 season at White Acres starts off with a bang as we go straight into our first spring festival. As with the rest of the country it has been a long cold winter so this is bound to make the fishing a bit slower but as long as people are catching a few fish we will be happy.

The Bait Tech remains our 'traditional' festival and excludes the use of pellets, boilies & the method. The days leading up to the festival have been fairly mild but we are still getting overnight hard frosts which tend to knock things on the head quite a bit. The festival is also earlier than normal so it is still very much 'winter' fishing and the anglers that are approaching this festival with that in mind are more likely to see better results than those that are overfeeding as if it was warmer. In this festival more than ever all fish will come into play and for those who set there stall out with the intention of going for carp carp carp would fall foul of those who have built up a decent weight of silvers.
A daily report of the festival will be posted so stay tuned to see how the week unfolds and to see who will be crowned the White Acres Bait Tech champion 2010.
Day One
After a weekend of either serious practise or serious drinking (or even both) the anglers were ready for the off, once again it was a hard frost over night but with a forecast to become warmer throughout the day. With the sections drawn prior to the anglers arrivals they knew where they were heading on day one, so all that was left to was draw their peg for the day and crack on with their festival.
A Section Pollawyn
In the colder months the carp shoal up on the lake and if you manage to draw sock on your day will be a dream but the fish are very unpredictable and could turn up anywhere. A significant amount of F1's have been introduced into Pollawyn over the winter and on recent matches have really been showing but unfortunately these matches have allowed pellet so the anglers will have to think a bit about their bait. Today match winner was Steve Sanders on peg 19, Steve caught on the waggler & feeder for a weight of 58lb 2oz. Lee Edwards weighed in with 50lb 12oz to take second, Lee was on peg 15 and caught a mixed bag of silvers on casters short and meat long. On peg 29 Paul Barnard was third with 50lb 1oz, Paul caught at 16 meters on the pole with meat. The next best weight on the lake came from Steve Barraclough on peg 27; Steve caught a nice bag of skimmers on the pole with meat weighing 43lb 10oz.
Section Winners
Steve Sanders 9 points peg 19 58lb 2oz
Lee Edwards 9 points peg 15 50lb 12oz
Darren Vowles 9 points peg 45 39lb 12oz
Harry Billing 9 points peg 10 34lb 10oz
B Section Jennys & Python
The weights across both lakes were close today's and fished evenly, it was nice to see the overall weights coming from across both lakes and the weights in the sections being close for points. There were a few lower weights on Python but overall it was a fairly good start to the festival and adds a bit more excitement when the weights are so close. The lake winner today was Steve Mitchell on Jennys peg 19, Steve caught on the tip with corn for a weight of 43lb 11oz. Steve Cook was on Python peg 36 and was second with 43lb 8oz, Steve caught on the pole with maggot, caster & corn. Third with 40lb 1oz was Andy Neal, Andy was on Python peg 10 and caught on meat on the long pole. C Section Trelawney & Twin Oaks
It was a mixed day for the anglers on these lakes today, over the winter work has been done on both of the lakes. Trelawney had has a substantial amount of re-stocking with over 1000lb of decent silvers and F1's introduced and Twin Oaks has also had more fish put in. Trelawney fished fairly evenly with some decent weights but also a few lower weights coming from both sides and Twin Oaks was also quite close apart from one weight that completely walked the section. Richard Kinning was the match winner today getting his festival off to a great start with a weight of 164lb 11oz; Richard was on Twin Oaks peg 16 and caught on the waggler with meat. Second, also on Twin Oaks but the high numbered side, was Dave Campbell, Dave was on peg 23 and caught on the long pole with meat & corn for a weight of 61lb 7oz. D Section Porth
Porth is a bit of an unknown entity to all as it rarely gets match fished over the winter so of all the lakes in the festival this week this is the one the anglers are most blind on. It was a bit of a surprise today with carp being caught for the first time in a while, the lake did not really show much form as the weights came from all across the sections and as to be expected some anglers struggled more than others - especially those who had not been to the venue before. The lake winner was Andy Gregory; Andy was on peg 75 and caught on the feeder with maggot for a weight of 19lb 7oz. Second with 15lb 5oz was John Stepton, John caught on the feeder with maggot from peg 75. Third on peg 89 was Richard Salmon, Richard was on peg 89 and caught on the feeder with double maggot. Steve Ringer was on peg 85 and had the next best weight on the lake with 14lb 13oz, Steve caught on the feeder with maggot & pinkie.

Andy Ingleson 9 points peg 17 12lb 8oz
Sean Fletcher 9 points peg 38 9lb 10oz
E Section Bolingey
Bolingey is another lake that is hardly fished over the winter and by today's weights we can tell that the fish are keen to feed even in this cold weather today we have had 12 weights of over 90lb with some fair mid weights too. The lake was won today by John Waples; John was on peg 23 and caught on the pole at 7 & 9 meters with meat, casters & worm for a weight of 165lb 11oz. On peg 30 Adey Lindsay was second with 138lb 6oz, Adey caught on meat shallow & meat at 7 meters. Third with a weight of 134lb 9oz was Phil Ringer, Phil caught on the long pole with corn from peg 49. Well we have reached the half way point of the festival already and we have seen a few changes at the top today. Day three always provides a bit of extra excitement as the 5 lake winners today all win a free holiday and an invitation back to fish our winners week mini festival.
A Section Twin Oaks/Trelawney

Phil Ringer is our only angler on perfect points but not all is lost for the anglers as the 'dropper' still has to come into play. Those that lost a few section points yesterday will be looking to claw their way back up the table and for those that increased their points they will be hoping for good draws for the last two days. As with all of the festivals it could come close to the wire, can Phil or Steve make it another Ringer festival win or even a Ringer first & second or will one of the other anglers knock them out of the top spots. Join us tomorrow for the penultimate day of the festival.
Day Four
It was a damp and miserable day but fortunately quite mild and not as windy as previous days.
