Garbolino / Mosella Winter Festival 2009
  Fishing Information call 01726 862519

White Acres has hardly been closed for two minutes and now it is time to open our doors once again for our annual winter festival. This festival sees 60 anglers taking to the banks of Pollawyn, Jennys, Trelawney, Python & Twin Oaks and fishing with no bait limits for everything except mirror, common & ghost carp.
F1's are once again counting this year which is why we have called it the 'winter' festival but to try and combat the F1's playing a major part we have decided to make the festival float only.

The week leading up to the festival and the weekend of arrival had been atrocious weather wise with some of the anglers not even attempting a practice but some have been braving it in between torrential showers and gale force winds! The forecast is very mixed for the week but hopefully it will still be a great week.

Garbolino and Mosella have joined forces to once again sponsor the event which we are thankful for thus enabling us to hold the festival. With the draw done prior to arrival the anglers know where they will be heading and in what order for the week. Join us daily for match updates and to find own who will be the top of the leader board by the end of day five and the winner of the White Acres Garbolino/Mosella Winter Festival 2009.

Day One
Despite heavy rain and strong winds overnight the weather was calmer for the draw and the start of the match although it is bitterly cold and there will be a few people especially on the exposed pegs will need de-frosting at the end of the match. There was much excitement at the draw with the anglers eager to draw and get off to a start. Here is the action from day one.

'A' Section Pollawyn
There is only one section on Pollawyn this year with the pegs spreading across the high bank from pegs twelve to thirty three. The weights were reasonable from across the section with the anglers catching nice mixed bags of skimmers, roach and a few F1's. Andy Dare was today's lake winner with 44lb 6oz, Andy was on peg 12 and caught on the pole down the edge with caster. Giles Cochrane on peg 15 was second, Giles caught roach and skimmers shallow with caster on the pole at 10 meters for a weight of 43lb 10oz. We would like to extend a massive thank you to our festival sponsors Darren Cox from Garbolino and Vic Bush from Mosella for providing prizes for the top ten anglers and also thanks to all of the anglers that competed in the festival.

The Friday evening presentation is always a very sociable event with a complementary buffet provided for everyone and this always goes down well after a hard weeks fishing. Once again thank you to the sponsors, anglers and congratulations to this years winners.

Cheers, Kirsty
